BPA-FREE SEALANTS:
We here at Toothworks focus strongly on prevention and help our patients remain cavity free while growing up.
We strongly recommend you to have your child’s teeth treated with sealants, because it is one of the most effective way to help prevent tooth decay.

Dental sealants act as a barrier to infection to prevent cavities and can be applied to children’s back (molars) teeth.

They should be applied soon after the permanent tooth erupts.

The chewing surfaces of the back tooth are the most likely areas to get cavities because of the presence of depressions and grooves on them.

Sealants protect these vulnerable areas by “sealing out” from infection.
Sealants last several years and the cost of sealants is very low.

SPORTS MOUTH GUARDS:
Once your child starts playing sports we highly recommend that they wear a sports mouth guard to protect their teeth from getting fractured due to trauma.

We here at Toothworks, provide custom made sports guard, which is very comfortable and resilient.

FLUORIDE TREATMENTS:
A fluoride treatment in the form of a varnish will be applied to your child’s teeth at certain intervals or more often depending on their cavity risk.

Fluoride is a safe and most effective way to make your child’s teeth stay strong and cavity-free.
We also discuss optimal fluoride intake from all sources, (i.e., water, tooth paste etc.) to help keep your child’s teeth remain strong while minimise the risk of Fluorosis ( white or brown spots) on their teeth.

SPACE MAINTAINERS:
When a tooth is lost permaturely due to cavities or trauma, a space maintainer is often recommended to keep the gap open between the teeth for the permanent tooth to erupt later. Space maintainers help prevent crowding of the permanent teeth.

HABIT BREAKING COUNSELING & APPLIANCES:
If your child has a habit such as thumb sucking, lip biting or tongue thrusting that is causing abnormal changes to the oral structure such as protruding teeth, abnormal shape of the mouth, open bite. We provide many types of custom-made oral appliances to help your child stop these abnormal habits.

We motivate your child to stop the harmful habits by offering positive encouragement.

Restorative Pediatric Dentistry

PEDIATRIC CROWNS (STAINLESS STEEL OR WHITE ZIRCONIA):

If your child is having extensive damage to back tooth or if baby root canal is performed on your child’s tooth stainless steel or white zirconia crown maybe recommended in such situation to protect the tooth until it will naturally fall out.
The advantage of each crown will be discussed with you before placing it.

BABY ROOT CANALS (AKA PULPOTOMY- PULPECTOMY):
When infection involves the nerve (pulp) of the tooth, It can cause intense pain to your child. when the nerve of the tooth is infected it must be treated properly to restore the child to good dental health.

Pediatric root canal procedure referred to as pulpotomy and pulpectomy are the two variants of the procedure which are done in these circumstances.
The purpose of the root canal treatment is to maintain the child’s tooth on its position so that the tooth will not be lost early
Early loss of back primary teeth of your child may cause future problem with the eruption of permanent teeth.
Therefore all efforts should be made to avoid early loss of primary back teeth by treating them properly with the help of baby root canal procedure.

Baby root canal procedure involves the removal of infected pulp tissues and a medication is placed inside the tooth to prevent bacterial growth.

The procedure is followed with final restoration such as a filling, a white zirconia crown or a stainless steel crown.
After the root canal procedure is complete all pain will subside either immediately or within a few hours of the procedure.
